Blog 2- Post Positivism, Constructivism and Critical Theory

I have to be honest. I stayed up for four hours trying to get a clear understanding of all these research ideologies. At one point, I thought understood it but now I am not sure about anything except my present state of confusion.

however, from what I do know led me to believe I may be a post positivist. In order for me to explain this I had to think of an example that made sense and bought me understanding. My example is the wonder of creation. in my lived experience people either believe firmly in the Big Bang Theory or the biblical belief that the earth was created by God. What is true is that no matter what you believe, we can agree that it is a phenomenon.  Scholars and ordinary people have debated this particular example forever and still the question is, do we really know? What we do know is there is a reality (truth) out there that exist independently from our thoughts or opinions. And because of this, there is no perfect way to explain reality because it's based off our lived experiences and our experiences can alter what we thinks is true.

So, if I were to take Post Positivist approach to my questions I wrote, I would have to accept that in looking for answers, I may never find an absolute truth. As I absorb this reality, I know that absolute truths will always elude me because there will always be a degree of uncertainty.

In conclusion, reality is definitely out there but we may be limited in our ability to capture it. Now that is something for me to ponder on.
